In a significant boost for academic excellence, students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and other institutions have been honored with a total of N35 million in the inaugural JAMB-Rite Awards. This initiative, launched by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), aims to recognize outstanding matriculating students from across Nigeria, encouraging future generations to prioritize education.
The awards ceremony showcased the achievements of students who excelled in their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores. With over 1.8 million candidates vying for university placements, this program underscores the need for educational institutions to foster a competitive spirit. “These awards are not just an acknowledgment of academic merit; they serve as a catalyst for students to strive for excellence in their educational pursuits,” said Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar.
Looking ahead, the JAMB-Rite Awards could reshape the landscape of higher education in Nigeria by incentivizing students to aim higher and study harder. As educational standards evolve, similar initiatives may emerge, promoting a culture of achievement that benefits the nation's intellectual and economic future.
