Source policy

BriefingAfrica uses a mix of primary sources, established publishers and specialist reporting. Source provenance is part of the story record, not hidden infrastructure.

Discovery is not republication

RSS feeds and publisher pages may alert the newsroom to a development. Unless rights explicitly allow otherwise, we store only the metadata needed for discovery and provenance and write our own report.

Multiple reports, one event

When several outlets cover the same event, the ingestion system should cluster those reports around one event rather than create duplicate BriefingAfrica pages.

Source quality

The newsroom can track reliability, recency, directness and rights constraints for each source. High-impact claims should favour direct or independently corroborated evidence.
