The ongoing conflict in southeastern Nigeria continues to escalate as troops from the Joint Task Force South-East Operation Udoka recently neutralised three suspected operatives of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Anambra State. This operation underscores the persistent security challenges faced in the region, where IPOB has been accused of orchestrating violence against state institutions.
The troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, also recovered arms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the operation, highlighting the potential threat posed by these groups. Major General John Enenche, spokesperson for the military, stated, "Our commitment to restoring peace in the Southeast is unwavering, and we will not relent in our efforts to dismantle these violent groups." This statement reflects the military's determination to tackle the root causes of insecurity in the area.
