In a significant move to enhance civic engagement, the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) has launched a constitutional literacy initiative for students in Rivers State. This program, spearheaded by the Olympus Marino Deck in Port Harcourt, aims to equip young Nigerians with essential knowledge about their rights and responsibilities under the Constitution.

The initiative comes amid growing concerns about the political apathy among youth, particularly as Nigeria approaches crucial elections. By focusing on constitutional literacy, NAS hopes to foster a generation of informed citizens capable of advocating for their rights. Blessing Ibunge, a representative of the NAS, stated, “Empowering students with constitutional knowledge is vital for nurturing responsible citizenship and ensuring that they can actively participate in democratic processes.”

As the initiative unfolds, it represents a broader trend of civil society organizations stepping in to fill educational gaps. With the increasing importance of civic awareness in a democratic society, NAS's efforts could serve as a model for similar programs nationwide, fostering greater political engagement among Nigeria's youth and potentially reshaping the nation's civic landscape in the years to come.
