In response to the recent flooding crisis in Lagos, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) conducted a joint assessment to gauge the disaster's impact across several local government areas. This initiative, focused on Alimosho, Ikeja, Kosofe, and Lagos Island, aimed to evaluate damage, identify affected communities, and document immediate humanitarian needs.
The floods, exacerbated by heavy rainfall and inadequate drainage systems, have displaced thousands and severely affected essential infrastructure. NEMA Director General Mustapha Ahmed emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "Our primary goal is to ensure that no community is left behind in receiving the necessary support and resources."
