The Ogun State Water Corporation (OGSWC) has attributed the ongoing water disruption in Abeokuta to extensive road projects rather than failures in the Ogun Urban Water Supply Project, funded by the French Development Agency. This clarification comes amid rising public concern over the accessibility and quality of water in the region, which many residents have linked to the perceived inefficacy of the AFD initiative.

OGSWC's managing director, Adebayo Kuku, emphasized, "The road construction has caused temporary disruptions to our main supply lines, but we are actively working to minimize impacts on the community." This statement aims to quell fears that the AFD project has failed to meet its objectives, as the agency has been criticized for delays and inefficiencies. The local government has assured residents that the restoration of water services is a priority and that alternative measures are being explored.

Looking ahead, while the road projects are essential for infrastructure development, the challenge remains for OGSWC to ensure that improvements in water supply are not sidelined. As the region grows, balancing development with essential services will be crucial for maintaining public trust and satisfaction.
