In a significant move to protect vulnerable children, Slum2School Africa and The Freedom Fund have launched a safeguarding programme for child domestic workers in Lagos. This initiative addresses the pressing need for educational and social support for these marginalized youths, who often face exploitation and abuse in domestic settings.

The programme integrates educational opportunities with essential support services, aiming to uplift the lives of child workers and provide them with pathways to a brighter future. The initiative comes at a time when reports of child labor in Nigeria highlight systemic issues that leave many children unprotected. According to Dr. Eniola Odebiyi, Executive Director of Slum2School Africa, “Every child deserves the right to a safe and nurturing environment, and this programme is a step toward making that a reality.”

Looking ahead, the success of this initiative could set a precedent for similar programs across Nigeria, fostering a broader movement to combat child labor and empower affected communities. By working collectively, stakeholders hope to create a safer environment for children, ensuring their rights are upheld and their potential realized.
