In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted shipments of cocaine and opioids concealed within the walls of cartons, intended for the United Kingdom and Australia. This operation highlights the ongoing challenges Nigeria faces in combating the global drug trade, which has seen a rise in sophisticated smuggling tactics.
The NDLEA reported that the intercepted drugs were part of a larger network that exploits Nigeria’s position as a transit hub. Chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, emphasized the agency's commitment to disrupting drug routes, stating, "We will continue to intensify our efforts and collaborate internationally to dismantle these syndicates."
