The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has ramped up its efforts in Anambra State, arresting 559 suspects and securing 128 convictions over the past 11 months. This aggressive stance underscores the growing concern over drug abuse and trafficking in the region, which has become a significant public health crisis.
The spike in arrests reflects the NDLEA's commitment to combating illegal drug activities, with increased surveillance and community outreach programs aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. “Our goal is to create a safer environment for all citizens by dismantling drug networks,” stated Anambra State NDLEA Commander, Ibrahim Dogo.
