In a significant move towards combating fraud, the Forensic Institute of Nigeria has officially welcomed the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) into its governing council. This strategic partnership aims to tackle the growing menace of cybercrime, which has led to substantial financial losses across various sectors.

Isa Salifu, Registrar and Chief Executive of CIFCFIN, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “Integrating CPN into our council will enhance our capabilities to address the pressing concerns of cybercrimes that have cost the nation billions.” This initiative reflects a broader recognition of the need for interdisciplinary approaches to fraud prevention, combining engineering and technology expertise with forensic analysis.

As Nigeria grapples with a rising tide of digital fraud, the involvement of these professional bodies signals a proactive stance in developing robust frameworks for cybersecurity and fraud eradication. The success of this initiative could pave the way for innovative strategies and regulatory measures, ultimately fostering a safer economic environment for businesses and consumers alike.
