This initiative comes amid a reported surge in counter-terrorism efforts, with 662 terrorists eliminated in the second quarter of 2026, underscoring the ongoing threat posed by insurgent groups.
The DHQ's proactive measures reflect a commitment to engage the public in the fight against terrorism. The emergency line is expected to facilitate quicker reporting of suspicious activities, thereby empowering citizens to play an active role in their security. Major General John Enenche, Director of Defence Information, stated, “This line will serve as a direct channel for citizens to report any threats, enhancing our operational efficiency.”
