Despite Nigeria's pressing need for affordable transportation solutions, the transition to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is stalling amid rising fuel prices. The government's push for a shift to CNG, seen as a cleaner and cheaper fuel option, has not gained the expected momentum, with infrastructure and distribution challenges hampering progress.
Key stakeholders, including the National Petroleum Corporation, have emphasized the importance of CNG in reducing reliance on petrol. "We must accelerate the adoption of CNG to ensure sustainable transportation and lower costs for consumers," stated Segun Olatunji, Director of Fuel Strategies at the Corporation. His remarks underscore the critical need for a coordinated effort between government and private sectors to enhance CNG accessibility.
