The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has raised alarms over the inaction of Gombe and Plateau state governments regarding the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU Agreement. This failure to fulfill commitments has led to fears of impending industrial unrest in universities across the affected states.

ASUU's Bauchi Zone highlighted that the agreement, which was designed to address various educational and welfare concerns, remains largely unaddressed. "If the state governments do not act swiftly, we risk a repeat of past strikes that significantly disrupt academic calendars," stated Dr. Emmanuel Okwudili, ASUU Bauchi Zone Chairman. This sentiment reflects a growing frustration among academic staff who feel their grievances are being ignored.

With the academic year already strained by previous disruptions, the failure to implement key agreements not only jeopardizes the educational environment but also threatens the stability of university operations in Gombe and Plateau. The situation calls for immediate dialogue and resolution to avert a situation that could further compromise the quality of education in these states, underscoring the urgent need for accountability in governance.
