The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for revitalizing the Olokola project in partnership with Dangote Industries, a move expected to significantly bolster industrial growth and job creation in Ondo State. This initiative comes after years of stagnation, signaling a renewed focus on economic development in the region.
The Olokola project, initially launched over a decade ago, aims to establish a deep-sea port and industrial hub, but faced numerous delays and challenges. Governor Aiyedatiwa's recent efforts to engage with Dangote have reignited interest, with local leaders optimistic about the potential impact. “This project will not only create jobs but also position Ondo State as a key player in the industrial sector,” stated ALGON President, Adebayo Alabi.
As the state moves forward, stakeholders are hopeful that the revival of the Olokola project will draw further investments and enhance the business environment, providing a much-needed boost to local economies. The collaboration between the state government and private sector players like Dangote could set a precedent for future partnerships aimed at sustainable development across Nigeria.
